Born in Oriago, Italy, and raised in Rome, Armando Gallo became the eyes and ears of the British rock scene as London correspondent for CIAO 2001, witnessing firsthand the rise of Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. A lifelong devotee of Genesis, he is widely regarded as the definitive chronicler of their early years, capturing their evolution in his landmark book Genesis: The Evolution of a Rock Band (U.S. edition: Genesis I Know What I Like).
In Hollywood, he documented legends from John Wayne to a young Steven Spielberg, while his Fratelli Gallo Editori publishing company produced over 40 rock books and PIX Photorock magazine. Touring the world with Peter Gabriel, U2, Madonna, and more, his lens immortalized the energy and intimacy of live performance. A two-time Telegatto award winner and longtime member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Gallo’s photographs grace album covers and magazines worldwide. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Cheryl.
